Baggage Policy (General Service) for Thai Airways International Public Company Ltd.
If you are traveling solely on THAI flight for the duration of your journey, please familiarize yourself with our baggage rules as follows:

Note :
1.When a passenger is involuntarily rerouted to a lower class of service, the higher class baggage allowance shall be applied even though the refund for the fare difference is made.
2.The exemption from extra baggage shall be applied to any passengers who traveling on the conditions agreed by THAI and Government sector.The exemption shall be applied according to the condition on the passenger's ticket only. By government order or agreement, certain passenger categories may have a free baggage allowance deviating from the regular system. Such amended free baggage allowance is stated in the passenger's ticket.
3.The condition on the 2th note is applicable to passengers traveling from Thailand only. For other areas/countries, follow the rules applied by the national carriers concerned.
4.In case of travel on combined services for through journeys where the passenger travels partly on F-class and partly on C-, U-, or Y-class, the free baggage allowance applicable on each sector of the trip shall be that applicable to the class of service for which the fare is paid. In case the passenger who has paid F-class fare travels on C-, U- or Y-class, the free baggage allowance shall be that applicable to F-class.
5. Foldable stroller can be loaded in compartment without additional charge.

  • Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) Gold Card members will enjoy the privilege of one extra baggage on top of the regular allowance in any class of travel.
  • Special baggage rate shall be applied for unusual size and weight. Please contact the local THAI office.
Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class passengers receive a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each piece shall not exceed 32 kgs (70 lbs) and linear measurement (length+width+height) shall not exceed 158 cms (62 inches).
Passengers traveling on economy class are given a free baggage allowance of two pieces. The weight of each item shall not exceed 23 kgs (50 lbs) and linear measurement of each piece shall not exceed 158 linear cms (62 inches).

Carry on Items

In addition to the checked baggage allowance, each passenger is allowed to hand carry one baggage  at maximum length 56 cm (22 inches), width 45 cm (18 inches), thickness 25 cm (10 inches). These dimensions include wheels, handles, and side pockets.
Total weight of the carry-on baggage must not exceed 7 kg (15 lb).
Passengers are required to place the baggage in the overhead compartment or under their own seat.

 
Passengers can bring the following items free of charge :

  • Handbag/wallet/purse with the maximum length 37.5 cm (15 inches), width 25 cm (10 inches), depth 12.5 cm (5 inches), or the total of three dimensions do not exceed 75 cm (30 inches) with the total  weight not exceeding 1.5kgs(3.3lb). Notebooks, or portable personal computers are also applied with this condition.
  • Walking stick  (crutches) used by elderly passengers, sick passengers, and handicapped passengers
  • Camera or small binoculars
  • Infant food

Note
Spot check may be performed against the test unit and/or weighing machine at the check-in counter and/or at the boarding gate to ensure compliance to these regulations.

Carry-on baggage
Thai Airways International Public Company Ltd. will permit one carry- on bag plus one small personal item per customer to be carried on the aircraft at no charge. The maximum combined linear measurement (length x width x thickness) of the carry-on bag must not exceed 22 inches x 18 inches x 10 inches (56 x 45 x 25 cm) or 50 linear inches (126 cm). The maximum weight of the carry-on bag is 15 pounds (7 kg). For more information on allowable carry-on baggage please refer to Baggage Policy (General Service - Carry on Items)
Excess Baggage Charges
Bags checked in addition to the traveler’s baggage allowance. Checked baggage allowance may vary depending on cabin, status level, military status, itinerary and date of purchase.

Note:
1. Excess baggage charges published in USD will be converted to the local currency by using the Banker's Selling Rate on the date of baggage charged.
2. The above table of excess baggage charge will be used on TG flights only.
Calculation details:
1. Baggage carried in excess of the free baggage allowance as specified is charged irrespective of the class paid for and used by passenger.
2. The applicable excess baggage charge shall apply to :
                a. The excess number of baggage: each bag (PC) exceeding 2 checked bags (PC)
                b. Oversized Baggage: each bag (PC) exceeding the dimension of 62 inches (158 cm)
                    but not exceeding 80 inches (203 cm)
3. Twice the applicable excess baggage charge shall apply to :
                a. The excess number plus oversized: each bag (PC) exceeding 2 checked bags (PC)
                    and exceeding the dimension of 62 inches (158 cm) ,but not exceeding 80 inches  
                    (203 cm)
4. Any bag (PC),
                a. the sum of the three dimensions of which exceeds 80 inches (203 cm), and / or
                b. the weight of which exceeds 70 lbs (32 kg) shall be subject for the following:
i. Such bag (PC) shall not be carried as accompanied baggage unless prior  
handling arrangements have been made in advance and get confirmation from TG.
ii. Such bag (PC) shall be weighed and shall be charged at 3 times the applicable excess baggage charges for the first 45 kg of fraction thereof for each additional 10 kg. Of the fraction thereof, 1 (One) additional excess baggage charge shall be applied.

Other checked items (To/ from USA and Canada )
Additional Items as checked baggage that may have extra handling charges. The following items are subject to a special handling fee based on itinerary. All fees listed are per item.
Bicycles
A bicycle may be included as part of your free baggage allowance.  For a bicycle above your free baggage allowance, normal excess baggage rates apply: USD119
Golf Equipment (1 set of clubs)**
You may use one of your free baggage allowance piece for a golf set.  If in excess of your free baggage allowance, than 50 %of the excess baggage rate shall apply for one golf set: USD60 .
** One set of Golf equipment consists of maximum 14 clubs, 12 balls, one set of golf shoes.
Additional golf equipment after the first set will be charged at the normal excess baggage rate: USD119
Snow/Water Skiing Equipment
Shall be charged 33% of the excess baggage rate: USD40
Surfboards
One board not exceeding 109 inches at 50% of excess baggage charge : USD60
Any surfboards exceeding 109 inches will be charged the full excess baggage fee: USD119
A second surfboard shall be charged at the full excess baggage rate: USD119
Windsurf Equipment
Will not be included in free baggage allowance and normal excess baggage charge applies: USD119
Scuba Diving Equipment
May be included in free baggage allowance and normal excess charge shall apply: USD119

Pets in Cabin (PETC)
Passengers may bring their dog or cat on board in the cabin with the maximum weight up to 10kgs including the container not exceeding the measurements (55length x 37width x 30height).  THAI requests that the local THAI office be advised at least 48 hours in advance, due to  some limitation of the number of pets accepted on board. Pets as Checked Baggage (AVIH)
Should the dog or cat exceed the 10kgs weight or the measurement to transport as PETC, then the pet shall be transported as checked baggage. For checked transportation of pets (under 32 kg/70lbs) the charge will be twice of the normal excess baggage rate: $119 X 2 = $238

$150 to $300 on international flight depending on how much flow rate of oxygen supplement is required.
Stretcher Transportation
6 (six) times the full economy class fare will be charged for passengers who need to be transported as lying flat under medical condition.
Cabin Class Upgrade (for flights to/from USA)
The following optional fees are applicable for cabin class upgrades from / to LAX for flights operated by THAI.
From Economy Class to Premium Economy Class: $855
From Premium Economy Class to Royal Silk Business Class: $1,850
From Economy Class to Royal Silk Business Class: $2,130
